Unbeweavable Hair Extensions

So, I spend a lot of time on forums and on yahoo answers and all that type of thing helping people with questions about hair extensions, I also see a lot of people talking about getting hair extensions off ebay for £20 but then complaining about them feeling horrible after a few washes.
so if you find yourself wondering why your hair feels horrible after a few washes, or wonder why people tell you that remy is the best but you dont really have a clue why, then hopefully this will help you out a bit…
Without getting waaay to into the whole hair industry and types of hair it churns out, there are really 3 types you need to know about.
1)Hair extensions - they will just be called hair extensions, or human hair extensions and can usually be found on ebay for anything as low as £20, this hair will contain some kind of anmial hair, usually horse hair. This hair is collected and mixed with a percentage of animal hair, or synthetic fibers, it is then all treated with chemicals to straighten it or bleach it in order to dye it to whichever industry standard colour is needed. Hair is then coated in sillicone which makes it feel almost like normal hair..the problem with this hair is that after a few washes when the coating has come off the hair feels terrible and in some cases when you get the hair wet, water doesnt seem to be absorbed into the hair, which means the percentage of animal hair is very high.
So, spend £20 on 18” hair extensions, wear it once or twice and buy it again, its false economy and a little bit gross…
2)100% human hair - This kind of hair is the more expensive kind and can start from about £50 - £60 for 18” hair, depending on the colour (lighter colours are more expensive because they require more treatment). This is basically exactly what it says it is and again you get what you pay for, so if you pay £30 for 100% human hair then the quality of the hair wont be as good as paying £50 for the hair, and by quality i mean that it will be single tracked (on one weft rather than 2) and it wont be double drawn. Double drawn hair is the technique used to get the hair on the weft and basically means that the end result leave the hair with the same amount of hair at the top of the weft, so lets say the root, as there is at the ends….when you buy cheap, so maybe £30 100% hair extensions they tend to look straggley at the ends…but hey, at least its not from a pony!
So, spend £30 and get 100% human hair but it will look a bit scrappy so you have to trim the ends to get it looking good, so you pay for 18” and get 16”..
Spend £50+ on 18” hair and you are getting a much better product, 100% human hair, so it will last up to 6 months with good care, it will be double wefted, so two tracks of hair on each weft, which looks thicker and cuts down on the straggley look, and it will be double drawn, so when you pay for 18” you can wear 18”….
3)Remy hair - I see so many girls asking for remy hair and they dont really know why, I also see hair being advertised on ebay and in shops as remy hair when its not, or it might be but a very loose interpretation on remy hair. True remy hair is the most expensive type of hair and what makes it expensive is that from the second its collected it stays root to tip, so when its sewn onto the wefts its sewn with the root at the top and the tip at the bottom, so its stronger, which theoretically means it lasts longer. The other key fact for true remy hair is that the cuticles that make up each strand of hair are left on, again making it much stronger and longer lasting, it also feels a lot softer and much more like your own hair… The process of treating the hair and keeping the cuticles on means that the hair cant be dyed as easily, or en masse, which is why its more expensive, its not as readily available. You will know true remy hair from the price, its about £80 for darker colours at 18” and about £100 for blondes.
Some people sell remy hair for cheaper because its 100% human hair, which for a small handfull of people is enough to constitute “remy”.
The hair that i personally sell on http://unbeweavable.co.uk is 100% human hair but each weft has a high percentage of remy hair included so its the highest qulaity 100% human hair available.
As with a lot of things, you definately get what you pay for, and if you buy cheap hair, it will look bad, feel bad and you will definately be buying twice…so invest in decent hair :)
lots of love
